Béla Kampschulte on difficult past Emotional GZSZ story! THAT is behind Mats' story
“He’s trying to punish himself!”
In “Good Times, Bad Times,” Mats Keller’s story is currently providing particularly emotional moments. The young man is in a wheelchair after a serious car accident – and lives voluntarily on the street. In an interview, actor Béla Kampschulte speaks openly about what is behind Mats' behavior and why he is driven by such feelings of guilt.
Mats lost a good friend in a car accident
Since Matt in the neighborhood Jonas (Felix van Deventer), a friendship develops more and more between the two men. Jonas tries to get to the rather reserved Mats, which is not that easy. There is a tragic past behind him.
Mats' life is thrown into disarray when a tragic car accident changes everything. “The car overturned. In the end, his girlfriend Anne died – and he was in a wheelchair,” explains Béla Kampschulte. What is particularly serious for Mats is his own guilt, which he attributes to himself: he actually should have driven himself, but he had drunk alcohol. Accusations have plagued him ever since. Although Mats comes from a good background, he withdraws completely and consciously decides to live on the streets in Berlin. It's clear to the actor: “He's trying to punish himself and somehow live with this burden.”

Mats doesn't want to accept any help from GZSZ
Mats repeatedly resists any support. While his fellow human beings – especially Jonas – want to help him, he keeps blocking him. “Mats wants to carry everything on his own. I can understand that, but that's not the right way,” said the actor.
Jonas remains stubborn and tries to make it clear to him that he is not to blame. And in fact: There are always moments in which Mats opens up and shows his vulnerable side. But the fear of having to deal with your feelings again is great. “It's true that Jonas has shown him the right path. He now sees more clearly what's really important in life,” says Béla.
So it remains exciting. What exactly happens next can be seen every Monday to Friday at 7.40 p.m. on GZSZ.
