Previously unknown perpetrators broke into several vehicles in two places in the Vogelsberg district in eastern Hesse. The police are looking for witnesses and giving important safety tips.

Wartenberg/Lauterbach – According to the East Hesse Police Headquarters, on the night of Tuesday (April 21st) to Wednesday (April 22nd). Fulda Several vehicles were broken into by unknown persons in the community of Wartenberg and in the town of Lauterbach in the Vogelsberg district. The perpetrators then stole tools from the vehicles.

On Mittelstrasse in Wartenberg-Landenhausen, the perpetrators broke the side window of a white MAN truck and stole various tools from inside. The damage amounts to around 500 euros. A vehicle was also attacked on Alte Straße. There the thieves forced open the side door of a parked brown Mercedes Sprinter.

They stole battery-powered tools and electrical appliances. Damage: around 1000 euros. On the street Auf den Rödern, the previously unknown carjackers broke open the door of a silver Opel Movano and also stole tools and machines. According to the police, the material damage in this case is around 300 euros.

In Lauterbach, on Goldhelg Street, the thieves forcibly opened the rear door of a parked Citroën Jumper and stole various electrical appliances and tools. The damage to this vehicle is estimated at around 200 euros. In nearby Grebenau, however, attempts to steal from vehicles failed.

Two unknown people tried to break into parked cars early on Wednesday morning (April 22nd) around 12:10 a.m. on Mayor-Lorenz-Strasse in the Udenhausen district. Police suspect they were looking for unlocked vehicles. The perpetrators are described as follows: The first man is around 1.80 meters tall and was wearing a black quilted jacket and a dark hat. The second man was wearing a dark top with a white print.

The officers ask anyone who can provide relevant information to contact the Lauterbach police station on (06641) 9710 or the Alsfeld police station on (06631) 9740. Alternatively, information can also be sent via the online watch at www.polizei.hessen.de be given.

In connection with the thefts from cars in the Vogelsberg district in eastern Hesse, the police advise not to leave any valuables in cars. “Always make sure that your vehicle is locked. Close the windows – even if you are away for a short time,” says police spokesman Marc Leipold.

Had a few days before Unknown perpetrators tried to steal a Porsche in Burghaun in the Hünfelder Land – but the vehicle owner was prepared. The thieves had to leave without having achieved anything. A video caused a stir. The perpetrators tried to intercept a signal from the Keyless Go key inside the building and forward it to the vehicle.
