The CDU in Fulda has agreed on “issue-oriented cooperation” with the Greens and the newly formed FDP/FGG/Free Voters faction. The CDU announced this in a press release.
Fulda – For the first time, the parties want to work together at the inaugural meeting of the city council this evening. “In the run-up to the inaugural meeting of the city council, there were many meetings between the factions and groups in the middle class,” writes the CDU Fulda.

It was about the challenges and topics of the coming electoral period. The greatest overlap for a reliable partnership emerged in discussions with the Greens and the parliamentary group made up of the FDP, FGG and Free Voters.
The CDU explicitly emphasizes in its statement that it is not a coalition: “Rather, it is about issue-oriented cooperation for clearly defined organizational decisions.” The cooperation forms the basis for the personnel decisions to be made on Monday evening.
The three factions have agreed on joint list proposals for filling the honorary magistrate seats and those of the deputy city councilors. No names are mentioned in the announcement – except for Margarete Hartmann. The CDU wants to propose the 70-year-old again as head of the city council, and the other two factions support this, it is said.
Fulda’s city councilors combine “forces of the political center”
The aim of the collaboration is to “create a stable working capacity for the city’s committees,” writes the CDU. In the next five years, political content and majorities in the city council will be discussed and decided on in regular meetings of the three factions.
“The signal from the parties involved is clear,” it concludes. “The forces of the political center take responsibility for the city’s ability to act and for reliable local self-government.” One Collaboration with the AfD is thus rejected – as was the case shortly after the local elections.
