10,000 euros for sustainable ideas: The RhönEnergie Group is once again looking for projects from the region that protect the climate and the environment.

Fulda – The RhönEnergie Group is offering its sustainability award for the third time for projects in its own network area that contribute to a more sustainable future for the region. Applications are possible now, the deadline is Monday, June 22nd.

RhönEnergie is looking for the best climate protection projects in Fulda

The prize, worth a total of 10,000 euros, is aimed at groups and clubs, daycare centers and schools, local associations and individuals; Companies are not addressed, as the RhönEnergie Group reports. The awards are given to projects that are ongoing or will be completed in 2025 or 2026 in the areas of climate protection, nature conservation, energy saving and responsible use of resources. The initiators can submit their project themselves, or a third party can suggest it to RhönEnergie.

First place will be awarded 5,000 euros, second place will be awarded 3,000 euros and third place will be awarded 2,000 euros. The award winners also benefit from media attention: The RhönEnergie Group presents the award-winning projects in detail through press releases, social media posts and on its website.

“Protecting the environment and the climate as well as the responsible use of scarce resources are important to us,” emphasizes Martin Heun, spokesman for the management of the RhönEnergie Group. “With our sustainability award, we want to use local examples to show how the idea of ​​sustainability can be implemented constructively. According to the motto: together for a region worth living in. The strong response in the first two years – with more than 20 applications last year alone – has shown us how much commitment and how many good ideas there is in our region. We want to make this energy visible again in 2026.”

Apply now: RhönEnergie honors environmental projects

The winners are decided by an independent jury whose central selection criteria, according to RhönEnergie, are positive environmental impacts, innovative approaches, the quality of implementation and the exemplary nature of the projects. Videos about winning projects from previous years are available online and illustrate what the Sustainability Award is all about.

According to its own information, the RhönEnergie Group is itself an active driver of the energy transition. The company will invest around 100 million euros in the generation of solar and wind power by 2030. A further 100 million euros will flow into the expansion and conversion of the power grids so that renewable energies reach consumers reliably. Around half of the company's electricity supplies already come from renewable sources.
