A burning truck tire caused a short-term full closure of Autobahn 66 in the direction of Frankfurt.
Schlüchtern – Fire and police operations on the A66 between the Schlüchtern-Süd and Steinau an der Straße junctions: At around 9.20 a.m. on Tuesday (April 14th), the front left tire of a truck caught fire for a yet unknown cause. According to police, the driver noticed the fire, drove his vehicle onto the hard shoulder and tried to extinguish the fire himself.

The fire brigade, which arrived shortly afterwards, finally brought the tire fire completely under control, it was also reported. The motorway had to be temporarily closed for the duration of the extinguishing work, but has since been reopened. The truck driver remained uninjured.
There is currently no information available on the amount of property damage. Witnesses to the incident are asked to call the Südosthessen police motorway station on (06181) 90100.
The A66 in Kinzigtal had to be closed briefly on Monday. The reason was an accident.
