The chance of getting all six numbers plus the super number correct is 1:140 million. The chance of being struck by lightning is around 70 times higher. And yet millions of people have been gambling for decades. Often they just go with whatever their gut feeling tells them. Sometimes they also play numbers that grandma and grandpa have already ticked for each draw.

This of course raises the question of which numbers really get you closer to the dream of making a little money. The online portal Tippland has evaluated statistics from the last few decades and explained which numbers should give you a higher chance of success. The numbers drawn have been evaluated since 1955. And the result? The 6, 49, 32, 26 and 38 are absolute perennial favorites.

Often drawn lottery combinations

But not only individual numbers were analyzed, but also combinations. There are a total of three two-way combinations that were drawn more often than others. With over 150 times, the 38 and 49 are tied for third place in the same draw. Second place with more than 155 times goes to 26 in combination with 49. The pair of 6 and 32 are undefeated in first place; the numbers rolled out of the drum more than 160 times in the same draw.

If you want a good – at least mathematically – suggestion for a three-way combination, you can bet on the 10, 32, 49. Only one order is even better: The top of all draws here is the 9, 16, 21 as three of a kind.

And yet one thing is very clear: the lottery is and remains a game of chance.
