For him, this “Let’s Dance” evening was a setback.
With only 15 points, Willi Banner ends up in last place – and Joachim Llambi's rating in particular causes astonished faces. But instead of giving up, Willi shows fighting spirit – and gets support from his dance partner Patricija Ionel. What do they both say about their performance? You can see that in the video above.
The evaluation hits the dancing couple hard – especially the three points Joachim Llambi. The verdict also causes a lack of understanding behind the scenes. Patricia Ionel can't understand the criticism and stands protectively in front of her celebrity: “I don't know. You have to be able to stand for three points. And we danced. Yes. We may not be able to dance like others, but we danced at our level. And we really gave it our maximum. And that was our best round. I'm very proud. I'm very proud of you.”
Clear words that show: For them, it's not just the score that counts – but the development and commitment. And that's exactly what she sees clearly in Willi.
While others might hang their heads after such an assessment, Willi remains surprisingly calm. For him, criticism is part of the competition – and that's exactly how he deals with it: “I always take it very sportily and I try to accept it and do better next time. The people are behind us, so we're super grateful and we're not giving up yet.Despite coming in last, he doesn't lose heart – on the contrary: his ambition only seems to grow.
Because: Even if the jury judges harshly, Willi himself sees a clear development. Especially in comparison to his first performances, he sees progress – and that's exactly what he wants to build on: “If you compare it now, for example, with the Viennese waltz from the introductory show, everything was a disaster (…). I mean, of course, there has to be a little improvement. We're now in the fifth show. I have to say, I'm really happy with the progress. That's why I'd like to build on it even further.”
For Willi it is clear: the journey is not yet over. And perhaps this attitude is the key to fighting back in the next shows.
