After the successful anniversary event “Foll Sounds Full”, the Fulda District and City Music Association is planning another major event and at the same time is setting important course for the coming years.
Fulda – At the delegates' meeting of the Fulda district and city music association, chairman Heiko Stolz welcomed 41 delegates from 26 member associations. In his report, he was pleased that “the clubs are active again,” which, according to Stolz, can be seen in the numerous events at which representatives of the association are regularly present.
District music association plans new edition of “Foll Sounds Full” for 2027
was the highlight of the past year the major event in August to mark the association's 45th anniversary under the motto “Foll sounds full”. Fulda's city center was filled with sound with numerous open-air concerts; The star march to the cathedral square, where around 800 musicians played for a big brass finale, attracted thousands of enthusiastic listeners. This was also a “very special experience” for the active participants, as the association reports.
Due to the great response, it was decided to organize a similar event in 2027 at the end of August or beginning of September. The planning for this is already underway.
Another focus of the meeting was the report from the music committee. According to the association, various workshops – including on system technology – were carried out very successfully in 2025. The youth brass weekend in Schwarzbach thrilled 40 young musicians. In addition, numerous D-series youth achievement badges were awarded, which document the musical level according to federal standards.
Association managing director Gaby Kerber wants to quit in 2027
In order to bring musicians of advanced age together or to reactivate them in a relaxed atmosphere, a U-50 brass weekend is planned. The association is also planning an informal meeting or trip for conductors and board members.
The Medal of Honor of the Fulda District and City Music Association, which is only awarded once a year to particularly deserving musicians, will go to Ludwig Hohmann from the Eiterfeld Orchestra Association in 2026 for his musical life's work. Member clubs can submit applications for the award in 2027 by December 31, 2026.
Structural changes are also pending: a new logo and a new homepage are intended to “put the association on a more modern footing”. The first ideas for the logo have already been collected and, according to the association, the new website is already online.
At the end of the delegates' meeting, managing director Gaby Kerber announced that she would make her position available at the next delegates' meeting in spring 2027. Kerber is a founding member of the association and – with a short break – has been managing director since 1980. She is of the opinion that “after so many years, a breath of fresh air would be good for the association” and asked the board and music associations to think about their successor at an early stage.
