Paderborn – Felix Veith storms to the top: Felix Veith took first place in the U16 age group at the 78th Paderborn Easter Run, which broke all records on Easter Saturday (15,070 runners from 60 nations took part). Hünfelder SV, whose Rhönkampfbahn was recently honored by the athletics association is, first place in the German best list.
30,000 spectators cheered the athletes along the route. There were also many front yard parties. If you are looking for a new personal best, the route in Paderborn is recommended. The course is internationally known for its extremely flat profile and fast asphalt sections.
Felix Veith triumphs at the Paderborn Easter Run
It's not for nothing that the Easter Run attracts thousands of runners every year. Felix Veith from Hünfeld was among the 3,661 participants in the “Paderborn Lippstadt Airport 5 km Fit and Fun Run”. And he had a lot planned. In good running weather, we walked along the officially measured asphalt route. At the finish the clock stopped at 15:27 minutes, an absolute top time that also meant first place in the MJU16.
In the MJU20, which was three age groups higher, it would have been fourth place. What Veith's time is worth can be seen when you look at the German M15 best lists: first place in the still young season. In the all-time best list of the Hessian Athletics Association, which has been kept for over 65 years, the Hünfeld man is now in second place.
In 2024, the U16 girls team from the Hünfeld-Neuhof-Flieden starting community became runner-up at the German Team Championships. In 2025, the U16 of StG Hünfeld-Eichenzell-Flieden took fourth place with 10,555 points, just six points behind bronze. Around two thirds of the athletes come from Hünfelder SV, whose members achieved numerous top results in 2024 and especially in 2025.
After convincing indoor performances, the group is aiming for its first start in the Team DM U20 in 2026. The U14 and U16 teams are also strong in their starting communities: the girls in the StG Hünfeld-Eichenzell-Flieden, the boys in the StG Hünfeld-Petersberg-Hilders.
Team building as a model for success
Current form tests deliver consistently high scores. In the WJU18/20, the new StG Hünfeld-Baunatal-Friedrichstein with GSV Baunatal and TV Friedrichstein replaces LG Fulda. The merger strengthens the team and brings in needed pole vaulting know-how, as some Fulda athletes were not allowed to compete.
Since performance requires strength and reliability, another team building course took place in Paderborn. Over four days, the participants completed two units of a good two and a half hours each in sprinting, middle distance, relay, jumping, throwing, strength and stabilization disciplines as well as yoga – in the halls of the “Nixdorf” due to the weather.
Shared meals, cultural excursions and games complemented the training. The camp strengthened solidarity so that new participants immediately felt integrated and shared the goal: “Be successful while having fun”. (mw)
