Crime novels are in vogue, regional crime novels particularly so. The booksellers Johanna Mildner and Barbara Möser know this and the local crime writer Traudi Schlitt knows it too. Therefore, for the second time under the title “MORDsZEIT in Alsfeld”, the three of them are inviting crime writers with a connection to the region to two exciting crime evenings.
Alsfeld – On Friday and Saturday, April 17th and 18th, Maximilian Gerten, Traudi Schlitt, Birgitt Venneri and Oliver Schwarz will be looking for murderers in the “Reading Worth” bookstore on the market square in Alsfeld. Oliver Schwarz starts his thriller “Aura” on Friday evening at 7 p.m. Oliver Schwarz lives in Frankfurt and regularly comes to Alsfeld to write. He describes himself as a storyteller whose compass is creativity. In his novel, the protagonist Lian MacGregor comes across the traces of a secret society and has no idea that its origins are deeply intertwined with the Holy Grail.
Reading “MORDsZEIT in Alsfeld” with four authors on two evenings
The discovery triggers a deadly chain of events – and the searcher becomes the hunted. Traudi Schlitt is second in the Friday evening program. She reads from her new Alsfeld crime novel “Death in the Bell Tower” – a preview for all fans of the old town cosmos of the city's anniversary, tower yoga and very old secrets about Inspector Thomas Eisenträger and bookseller Mari Reul.
The crime evening on Saturday will initially focus on a murderer hunt in Morocco – with an author from Kirchhain. From 7 p.m. Birgitt Venneri will read from her book “Sonderoperation soler – disappeared without a trace”. In it, a daughter follows the trail of her missing father, the deputy head of the French secret service. In Morocco, the attractive agent Christopher crosses their path, who is chasing international child traffickers.
As an engineer for spatial and environmental planning, Birgitt Venneri has discovered that city planning is similar to writing a book. You have ideas, put them on paper, think about them and develop them further until in the end everything can be put together into a big whole: an attractive district or – as in this case – an exciting novel.
Crime authors with a connection to the region read in two double readings
At the end of the murder period, things get very regional again in Alsfeld: Former OZ editor Maximilian Gerten presents his Vogelsberg crime thriller “Peasant Victim” – of course with a journalist as investigator: The chairman of the district farmers' association was brutally run over by a tractor. By whom and why? Journalist Mark Vogelsang gets to the bottom of the matter and gets deeper and deeper into the case, which pushes him and the police to their limits. After completing his studies, Maximilian Gerten ended up in the Vogelsberg district, where he has lived and worked ever since.
“We are very pleased that we have succeeded in offering a second MORDsZEIT in Alsfeld”; says Barbara Möser from the bookstore. Together with her colleagues, she is not only looking forward to reading it, but also to a lot of information between the lines, because: “We are sure that all the authors have a lot to tell.” The double readings can be booked as a package for 15 euros per evening; tickets are available in the “Reading Worth” bookstore.
