On April 12th, Dean Thorsten Waap invites you to the “Fulda Conversations” in the Christ Church: Under the motto “One in the Heart,” Provost Sabine Kropf-Brandau and Vicar General Martin Stanke discuss the prospects for ecumenical cooperation.
Fulda – Kicking for the first time Hesse day Protestant and Catholic Church under the The motto “IN THE HEART OF ONE” comes together and thus puts ecumenism at the center of attention. The goal: to make an ecumenism of hearts noticeable. In the course of this, Dean Dr. Thorsten Waap will be coming to the Christ Church on Sunday, April 12th for a new edition of the “Fulda Conversations”. The discussion service begins at 6 p.m. and, as the Fulda church district reports, is intended to “bring light to the current state of ecumenism.”
Church representatives discuss the future of ecumenism
The focus is on the question of how the denominations live together today. Provost Sabine Kropf-Brandau from the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck and Vicar General Dr. Martin Stanke from the diocese of Fulda as prominent representatives of their churches discussed the prospects of deeper ecumenical cooperation.
There are already concrete examples of living together: In facilities such as the telephone counseling service or the train station mission as well as in many local church communities Catholics and Protestants have been working together successfully in Fulda for a long time. At the same time, the things that divide us should not be left out of the discussion service. “What about the confession and the different spiritualities?” ask the organizers and point to everyday fault lines between the denominations – for example in marriages of different denominations or the question of sharing the Lord’s Supper.
Following the panel discussion, visitors are invited to a reception. There you have the opportunity to exchange ideas in person and continue the discussion.
