A pregnant woman suddenly goes into labor during her flight on Saturday (April 4). The plane is already approaching New York's John F. Kennedy Airport, but the child doesn't want to wait for it to land.

It's actually a completely normal flight on Holy Saturday (April 4th). Caribbean Airlines Flight BW5 from Kingston International Airport in Jamaica takes off almost on time, just a few minutes late. The plane (a Boeing 737 Max 8 with the registration 9Y-SUR) is scheduled to land in New York at 12 p.m. (local time). However, there is one more passenger on board upon arrival. The baby is born on the approach to John F. Kennedy Airport.

When the mother suddenly goes into labor shortly before landing, the plane is transformed into an improvised delivery room. The pilots on board ask the tower for a quicker landing. First of all, there is a misunderstanding, writes the New York Post. The air traffic controller believes it is a seriously ill passenger and asks again. “We have a passenger, a pregnant passenger, who is currently in labor,” the pilot answers him.

Caribbean Airlines crew acted prudently
The plane finally receives clearance for the direct approach and medical staff get ready to immediately receive the pregnant woman at the gate. Immediately after the plane touched down at “JFK”, a ground control employee asked: “Caribbean 5, ground control. Is it there yet?”
The pilot’s answer is short and to the point: “Yes, sir!” The air traffic controller also immediately has a creative suggestion for the mother: “Tell her she has to name it 'Kennedy'” – a reference to John F. Kennedy Airport.

Caribbean Airlines confirmed the in-flight birth on its website, writing: “Upon arrival, the mother and newborn were attended to by medical staff and are now receiving the necessary care”. The airline praises the professionalism and prudent actions of its crew, who “managed the situation in accordance with established procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers on board”.
Unfortunately, it is not known whether the new citizen is actually called “Kennedy”.
