The conversion of the former garages on the old brewery site in Schlitz into a brewery with a restaurant and terrace in Hahnekiez is progressing. The topping out ceremony was on Maundy Thursday.
Schlitz – “You see a happy mayor,” said Heiko Siemon, mayor of Schlitz in the Vogelsberg district, with a view to the rapid construction progress by the Schneider Holzbau carpentry company from Bernshausen. If everything goes according to plan, the opening will be celebrated in late summer.
Topping-out ceremony in Hahnekiez: Schlitz gets a new brewery
The once deep ceiling of the former garages has been torn open so that guests in the restaurant can see the beams. The hall area will be around 110 square meters and the outdoor area will be around 150 square meters. Instead of 70 seats as originally planned, there will be 84 seats inside.
“We did a lot of magic again,” said Dirk Eifert from the Vogelsberg country breweries, which will supply the brewery with drinks. There are 100 seats planned on the barrier-free terrace, the area of which can already be seen. The costs for the renovation amount to 1.5 to 2 million euros. Two thirds are taken over by the state and federal government within the ISEK program.
Tenant Tim Dittrich, who runs the “Braustübchen” in Schlitz, also looks bexcited about the construction progress since the groundbreaking in February. “The first ones have already called for Christmas,” he reports of reservations that are already being accepted on the usual telephone number (06642) 10 18.
