Major alarm: Shed in Hünfeld goes up in flames
Update from April 2nd, 10:30 p.m.: On Thursday evening, the fire department had the situation under control, reported Patrick Fey, deputy city fire inspector for the city of Hünfeld. 75 emergency services from the Hünfeld fire brigade as well as support from Burghaun and Eiterfeld were on site in Bornstrasse. The fire fighters set up a barricade.
It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to the house, but it is currently not possible to assess the extent to which it was affected by the heat and smoke. The emergency call came in very soon after the fire broke out, so we were able to respond quickly, says Fey. At first the water supply was a small problem.
However, the Hünfeld public utility company reacted quickly and set up access to an elevated tank. Meanwhile, the fire brigade is still busy extinguishing the fire until the last flames have been extinguished and embers have been removed. The fire site is cordoned off because, according to Fey, panels are still coming loose from the roof fastenings.
First report from April 2nd, 9:17 p.m.: The emergency services in Hünfeld were alerted to a fire at 8:12 p.m. on the evening of Maundy Thursday using the operational keyword F3. The flames burned high into the evening sky. The fire department is trying to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading to the neighboring house.
According to police at the scene, no one was injured by the fire. All residents of the house were able to get to safety in time. The fire brigade can no longer save the shed, but the house has not yet been affected.
