
Attentive neighbor in Ulrichstein prevents fraud: A fake bank employee wanted to trick a senior citizen out of her money.
Ulrichstein – In Ulrichstein on Friday afternoon (March 27th), fraudsters tried to scam a 77-year-old senior citizen out of her money using the fake bank employees, the police said. At the moment Fraudsters contact many citizens in the Vogelsberg district using this scam. However, thanks to a watchful neighbor, the fraud attempt failed even before the victim was contacted.

The senior citizen's landline phone rang around 5:30 p.m. A supposed employee from the local bank answered on the other end of the line. During the course of the conversation, the callers claimed that the woman's bank account had been debited without authorization. Because of this allegedly suspicious debit, the account must now be blocked and the bank card secured.
A short time after the phone call, a man appeared at the 77-year-old's home address. However, an attentive neighbor noticed the stranger in front of the house and spoke to him specifically. The perpetrator then fled and drove away in a black Hyundai i20 with the license plate “FT-KA 152”.
The police describe the fugitive man as follows: around 25 years old, around 170 centimeters tall, slim build, black hair slicked back. He was wearing a blue shirt and jeans.
