Fulda – Update from March 25th, 1:51 p.m.: In addition to the warnings of squalls at higher altitudes in Rhön and Vogelsberg, there is currently a warning of thunderstorms in the southern district of Fulda, in the south of Vogelsberg and in Bergwinkel, the western Main-Kinzig district. This is initially valid until 2:30 p.m.
The weather service warns of thunderstorms and squalls in East Hesse
According to the weather service, in severe thunderstorms (level 2 of 4), in addition to lightning and thunder, there are also occasional hailstorms or sudden flooding caused by heavy rain. In addition, aquaplaning can occur on the roads, objects can fall, tree branches can break or even entire trees can fall over.
Weather experts advise avoiding staying outside during a thunderstorm or, if that is not possible, seeking shelter. Scaffolding or other free-standing objects should be secured and driving behavior in traffic should be adapted to the weather conditions.
First report from March 24th, 3:51 p.m.: The mild spring weather will come to an end in the coming days, the temperatures in East Hesse will drop into the single digits and it will rain in some places. It will also be stormy at higher altitudes.
Storm gusts threaten especially in Rhön and Vogelsberg
The German Weather Service in Offenbach has issued a warning of level 2 out of 4 squalls from Tuesday (March 24th) at 9 p.m. until Wednesday (March 25th) at 6 p.m. This applies in the districts of Fulda and Vogelsberg at altitudes of over 600 meters. A squall warning for the entire Hersfeld-Rotenburg district is currently in effect on Wednesday from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
According to the weather service, gusts of level 2 out of 4 pose a risk of danger from flying objects or individual falling branches. Free-standing objects such as garden furniture should therefore be secured, and tents or covers should be secured. You should also exercise caution when spending time outdoors.
