The Rhönklub Hünfeld is celebrating its 150th birthday. As a founding member of the entire association, he was there from the beginning. To mark the anniversary, there are a number of events and even a 150-kilometer challenge.
Hünfeld – The anniversary year of the Rhönklub Hünfeld begins with the spectacular opening of the renovated Albiez-Ruh this Sunday. However, the Rhönklub around chairwoman Marita Weisz is not satisfied with sprucing up the oasis of calm on the slopes of the Kirschberg. In the past few weeks and months, the group has cleared an educational trail on the Kirschberg, secured it accordingly – and provided it with ten information boards. “Beautify and enhance” could have been the motto.
The opening of the new Albiez-Ruh, named after Wilhelm Albiez (1845 to 1931), patron of the Rhönklub, will be celebrated in a big way on Palm Sunday at 2 p.m. And because the Rhönklub Hünfeld wants to rejuvenate itself, there is a palm bunny campaign for children. In general, there will be some events that are suitable for the whole family. This ranges from the bird song hike to the family hike with beekeeper Heribert Knies to kite flying in the vineyard.
Rhönklub Hünfeld celebrates 150 years with challenges and events
There will only be three events in the anniversary year: There will be the planting of the anniversary oak on June 14th in the back part of the Haselsee, where a bench will also be set up – so high that your legs can dangle. And the culture and wine trip that takes you to Sardinia to mark the milestone birthday and is already fully booked. In addition, the anniversary will be celebrated in a big way at the Schützenhaus in mid-July. The Rückers village musicians will perform there.
At the end of the anniversary, young and old meet for a work assignment in the vineyard and afterwards at the Molzbacher Grillhütte, where the celebration takes place. The most diligent hikers in the 150-kilometer challenge will be honored there: This year there will be a hiking pass in which all the kilometers hiked will be noted and signed by the respective hiking guide. The goal is to hike 150 kilometers over the course of the year until the end of the anniversary on October 10th. In the 150th year of its existence, the Rhönklub is returning to Gersfeld, the place where it was founded.
