The hr brings Hohenzell into the “Dolles Dorf” spotlight. From archers to blacksmiths: the filming shows the diversity of the place.
Schlüchtern – The local association for the promotion of local heritage and local history and the local advisory board had already scheduled the “Afternoon of Generations” for Friday (March 20th) in the Schlüchtern Hohenzell village community center. Nobody among the 690 residents had imagined that a television team from Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) would come to this village event.
After Hohenzell was chosen as the “Dolles Dorf of the Week” in the “Hessenschau” on Thursday evening, everything went differently. “Some people who heard the drawing immediately posted it in the village radio group on Whatsapp,” reports local mayor Markus Dersch.

However, it wasn't going to be that easy for HR presenter Nicole Abraham and her team to get in touch with the person in charge on site. “The HR called the fire chief first because, as the mayor, I am not on the city’s homepage.” But the four-person admissions team arrived at the community center late in the evening.
It became clear that there is a lot worth filming in Hohenzell. Some of the activities that the people of Hohenzell do in their free time literally happen so quickly that the hr television cameraman had a hard time following them. “We need a lot of edits. It happens so quickly,” said Nicole Abrahams about the shoot at the local archery group that came together decades ago.
The next scene was high. Because from the slopes of the vineyard, including an impressive panoramic view over Hohenzell and the Bergwinkel, the brass choir played the Hohenzell song “My Home Village” especially for the television people. It wasn't possible to offer beautiful flower pictures due to the season.
For this purpose, the team filmed the Muth family's locksmith business, which is now in its eighth generation and was originally founded as a blacksmith's workshop. Especially for the filming, senior boss Hans-Joachim Muth and his son Johannes heated up the 100- to 150-year-old Esse for the first time in almost a decade.

Otherwise, repair work and custom-made wrought iron railings are among the family business's specialties. “If I’m quick, it can be done in three minutes,” says Muth, before he forges a tealight holder to demonstrate his craft. “You know what you have achieved,” he also points out, adding that the special thing about craftsmanship is having the fruits of your labor permanently in front of you afterwards.
Hans-Joachim Muth and Tobias Busch had already secretly prepared a gift for Nicole Abraham and colleagues: “Uncle Otto”, the legendary mascot of the HR, as a wrought iron figure. “That’s so great!” said Nicole Abraham, surprised.
The start of the season was announced early in the hut of the hiking club “Die Spechte”. Normally it wouldn't be until May 1st that the hut would be full again, but food was already prepared in the hut especially for the hr for the numerous guests and of course also for the film team.
The soccer field and the boules court, the Fehl family's sheep farm and the Lang family's farm can also be seen in the “Hessenschau” on Saturday evening (March 21st) at 7:30 p.m. Only recently Meanwhile, Fulda-Kohlhaus was a “great village” and really heated up the hr. (by Carsten Eigner)
