A murder that will change everything!
The situation around Carlos, Clara and Zoe is getting worse and worse. Between loyalty, increasing pressure and responsibility for his loved ones, Carlos increasingly finds himself in an inner conflict. In an interview, actor Patrick Fernandez talks about his character's emotional conflict, about love as the strongest motivation – and about why Carlos sticks to Zoe despite all doubts. The coming episodes in particular demand a lot from the role. “That mix of hope, love and growing fear – that’s powerful to play.” The actor also reveals which scenes particularly touched him, why Carlos puts his family above all else and why the coming developments will be particularly intense for fans: “A murder will shock the neighborhood and keep it in suspense for weeks!”
Between love and doubt
Carlos finds himself increasingly caught between the two fronts. How would you describe his inner conflict?
Patrick Fernandez: “Carlos firmly believes that there is a loving person in Zoe. He understands what she has been through – but he is not blind. He has doubts as to whether she can really put her past behind her. Nevertheless, he stands by her side because he believes in family. Especially now, when the conflict with John and Laura is escalating and the situation for Zoe and Carlos is coming under increasing pressure, he feels this inner conflict more and more strongly.”
Is Carlos more of a mediator out of conviction or does he want to make amends for his own mistakes?
Patrick Fernandez: “Both. He wants to create peace, but of course he also carries his own history with him. Maybe he unconsciously tries to do better this time. This is also reflected in the fact that he tries to get Zoe out of the tense situation and give her moments in which she can briefly get away from all the pressure.”

“This is exactly the moment that triggers his biggest doubts”
Zoe wants to go into hiding with Clara and Carlos. How serious is she – and does Carlos believe it?
Patrick Fernandez: “Carlos wouldn't have a problem with that. He's a stand-up man who has often started from scratch. Give him a beach and two weeks – and he'll build a life for you again. He would risk everything for his family. The fact that there is now even a suspicion that Zoe and Carlos could be planning their escape shows how serious the situation has become.”

When Zoe accepts an assignment on the dark web – what's going on with Carlos?
Patrick Fernandez: “This is exactly the moment that triggers his greatest doubts. He wonders whether Zoe will ever really get out of this cycle. Precisely because the pressure from outside is increasing, this thought hits him particularly hard.”
“For Carlos, family is everything – and that’s exactly what makes him vulnerable.”
How would you describe the relationship? Love, community of convenience or toxic dependency?
Patrick Fernandez: “There is real love. But also a strong dependence, especially because of Clara. For Carlos, family is everything – and that's exactly what makes him vulnerable. Especially now, when the fronts are becoming increasingly hardened and decisions could suddenly have very real consequences.”
What does Carlos think about Gerner?
Patrick Fernandez: “Carlos knows this world of power and money very well. He may respect the experience – but trust? Not one bit. In a situation where every step seems strategic, this mistrust only increases for Carlos.”
Moments that get deep under your skin
Was there a scene that particularly grabbed you?
Patrick Fernandez: “There's a lot of emotion going on. I can't reveal more yet – but it goes deep under the skin. Very deep. Especially the moments in which Carlos realizes how much this situation is tearing him up inside.”

Which facet of Carlos appeals to you the most?
Patrick Fernandez: “When he realizes how he is slowly losing the woman he has fallen in love with. This mixture of hope, love and growing fear – that is strong to play. And the more the situation worsens, the stronger this feeling becomes.”

“He deserves healthy love”
Are there parallels between you and Carlos?
Patrick Fernandez: “We tick very differently. But we are the same in one thing: love is a huge driving force in life.”
What advice would you give Carlos?
Patrick Fernandez: “As a friend, I would say: Run! (laughs) But seriously – he deserves healthy love. And maybe he has to learn that first.”

What shouldn't fans miss?
Patrick Fernandez: “If you think it's exciting right now – wait. What comes next will be emotionally intense. For me as an actor, these are some of the most challenging scenes of my career so far. A murder will shock the neighborhood and keep it in suspense for weeks!”
