His “Let’s Dance” nightmare comes true“Absolute crisis” for Willi Banner and Patricija Ionel! This week even the professional dancer is desperate
“How did the week go?”
When we asked Willi Banner and Patricija Ionel this seemingly harmless question, the two of them burst out laughing in the interview. However, behind the laughter there is not necessarily a good mood, but rather despair over a week full of crises, a lot of patience – and a late glimmer of hope. The Charleston really demanded everything from the dancing couple, as they both make clear in the video above.
Nothing happened this “Let’s Dance” week
Sooner or later he wouldn't have been able to get past it: For Willy Banner A Charleston is scheduled for the third week of “Let’s Dance”. A dance that should radiate fun and lightness and spread a good mood. But for Willi, this week of training had nothing to do with being in a good mood, as he admits in the interview before the show: “The first three days absolute crisis, really absolute crisis.”

Things went so poorly for him and Patricija Ionel that he had to say loving words to his dance partner: “First of all, respect again for having so much patience. As a coach, I would have shaken my protégé three times.”

Willi Banner is supposed to “be a clown” – but he can’t!
But what exactly is the problem? It quickly becomes clear: there is not just one. “You think a Charleston is super easy. It's such a fun number and easy steps, relaxed, chilled. But for some it is like that, for some it is like that,” says Patricija Ionel honestly. And with Willi it was “very difficult”. The professional dancer can't sugarcoat it. “It’s like that with him, it’s extremely difficult for him to remember the order.” In addition, it's not just your feet that have to take part in the Charleston. Rhythm, timing and charisma also have to be right. And that brings us directly to the next construction site.
As if that weren't enough, Willi Banner's Charleston demands something completely different: lightness, wit and great emotions on his face. Looking seriously is not an option here.
“And what’s more, we don’t look serious during the dance, we just laugh through it,” says Willi. Patricija adds with a laugh: “Laughing through it, being crazy, being a clown, facial expressions, everything is simple.” Things that are rather difficult for the influencer in front of an audience of millions.

Willis' neutral facial expression is forbidden at the Charleston.

At least there was a glimmer of hope at the end of the training week: in the very last round, the choreo worked for the first time. “She was happy as if we had progressed to the next round. I've never experienced that from her before,” Willi has to laugh about it now. We're keeping our fingers crossed that this will happen again live on Friday evening.
