YOUR heart beats for children!
Since January, Rebecca Mir has been regularly in front of the camera as an “Exclusive” presenter on RTL. Her heart not only beats for TV and fashion, but especially for children. And she has now expressed this love in a children's book. “The magic word is no!” is the name of her first book (in stores since March 1st). She talks to RTL.de about the project and reveals her son's reaction.
Rebecca Mir writes children's books and wants to make families think
It's a real project close to her heart that she has achieved, and you can feel that when you ask Rebecca about her first children's book. She has been working with the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs for several years, which is where the idea came from – but that's not all. The first impulse came from her little sister, of all people. “I put my son to bed every night and at some point my little sister was there and she noticed that I was always reading a book to him.” But not only that!
“After reading the book, I always turn off the light and tell him another story – the little one always thought that was great. And so did my sister, who heard it. She then said to me: 'Why don't you make a children's book out of it?'” No sooner said than done!
The process lasted a year and a half. Because it was clear to Rebecca Mir that her book should be for the whole family and should also make you think.

“Because I was working with the Family Ministry, I quickly realized that I wanted to do something on the subject of 'setting boundaries'. That's why her book is called: 'The magic word is no!' She explains: “It's simply about learning to say “no” when you don't want something and listening to your own gut feeling – for example, if you don't want physical contact. These are important things that we can give our children right from the start.”
Rebecca Mir: “I also had to learn to set limits for myself”
She also speaks from her own experience and says openly: “I had to learn this at the age of 30. Since I had my son, I have only started to set limits for myself because I used to ignore them in order to avoid difficulties.” For example, she first had to learn that as a mother she also takes time for herself. “That you don't always jump everywhere just to please everyone. But that you actually listen to yourself and do what's good for you.”

But of course she also thought of her son when she wrote the book! “My son loves drones and so of course there is a drone in the book and he also really likes the book, which of course makes me happy.”

Rebecca Mir donates book proceeds
Particularly beautiful: The proceeds from the book, which she developed together with Ravensburger Verlag, will go to both the Cologne Child Protection Association and Nina.eV. “Both are committed to the well-being of children.”
In plain language: Anyone who buys her book will not only bring great joy to the whole family, but will also help other children at the same time.
