Reinhold urgently needs a stem cell donation. His family is organizing a DKMS registration campaign in Sterbfritz on March 8th.
Sinntal – Reinhold is fighting for his life because he has blood cancer. The 64-year-old from Sinntal-Sterbfritz urgently needs a stem cell donation. In order to find a suitable donor, family and friends pull out all the stops with the DKMS (formerly the German Bone Marrow Donor File).
They are organizing a registration campaign in Sterbfritz on Sunday (March 8th). Reinhold gets a lot of things rolling – whether it's motorcycles, tractors, vintage cars or his own company. The 64-year-old has already achieved and experienced a lot. Reinhold is often the “motor” of his family and his circle of friends and supports them with advice and support.

But now he needs help himself. Reinhold has blood cancer. In order to get healthy again, he urgently needs a stem cell donation. He can only defeat the disease if there is – somewhere in the world – a suitable donor who has the same tissue characteristics.
In order to find your genetic twin, as many people as possible need to be registered. That's why family and friends, together with DKMS, are calling on people to register as potential stem cell donors. Anyone who would like to help now and is healthy and between 17 and 55 years old can register as a stem cell donor on site:
On Sunday (March 8th) a DKMS registration campaign for Reinhold will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall in Sterbfritz. “Normally dad is the strongest of all of us. He is also the one who helps everywhere and everyone. Now we have to be strong for him and help him,” says daughter Katrin.
Reinhold dreams of a trip to New York
“We can't do this alone, we need the help of many. So come along and register as a lifesaver – for our dad and for other people affected!” If you don't have time to attend the registration campaign on Sunday, you can register online in just a few minutes dkms.de/reinhold Have the registration kit sent to your home.
Registration is quick and easy: carry out a cheek swab using the three cotton swabs, sign the consent form. Very important: Send the set back to DKMS by post as quickly as possible, ideally within 14 days. The tissue characteristics are then determined in the laboratory. Donors who are already registered do not need to participate again.
Once registration has been completed, the pseudonymized data is available for global donor searches. A stem cell donation is possible from the age of 18 until the age of 61. Young donors are particularly important because they are more often requested to have stem cells removed for medical reasons.
When you ask Reinhold what he wants for the future, his first answer is to travel to New York with his grandchildren. “Just enjoy the time with the family without any worries. That would be the most important thing,” says the 64-year-old from Sterbfritz. A few weeks before There was a great response to a typing campaign for Kirsten Schmitt in Großenlüder. (jk)
