Two residential buildings with a total of ten subsidized rental apartments for low-income households are to be built in Hünfeld this year.

Hünfeld – New apartments for people with low incomes are being built on Stoppelsbergstrasse in Hünfeld: The planned construction of two residential buildings with a total of ten residential units in social housing has been initiated. The city of Hünfeld is supporting the project with funding based on the city of Hünfeld's funding guidelines for social housing, which have been in place since 2025, as the city of Hünfeld reports.

The aim of the city's funding program is to create new living space for low-income households. The subsidies should primarily be used to create size-appropriate, family-friendly and barrier-free rental apartments.

Ilona Schadock and Jürgen Dehnen from the engineering firm IMS in Lauterbach are planning to build ten residential units on Stoppelsbergstrasse for the social rental housing market in Hünfeld. The apartments will have different sizes, from around 45 square meters to around 100 square meters, to meet different needs. The construction project is scheduled to begin this year.

The properties are owned by the city of Hünfeld and were handed over to the investors as part of a leasehold agreement. The city of Hünfeld sees the project as an opportunity to support the creation of social rental housing and to expand the range of corresponding apartments in the city area.

Social housing is also in demand in Fulda. Not until September 2025 The city secured ten social housing units with a new agreement.
