There are still a few days until the third week of March, but the program for the ten-day Cultural Works Week 2026 in Schlüchtern is already in place.
Schlüchtern – The leitmotif of this year’s Cultural Works Week in Schlüchtern is called “SpielARTen” – not coincidentally a term with many facets. In the cultural work's brochure, three letters in the word are capitalized in order to emphasize the international term for “art”.
The creators of the Kulturwerk Week also point out that the playful approach to everyday life, which is increasingly characterized by reacting, functioning and optimizing, “opens up new, even unexpected perspectives and paths for us”. This makes it possible to discover hidden abilities and “we can become a source of inspiration for successful cooperation in social interaction”.
Music and art: This is what the cultural work week in Schlüchtern offers
The ten-day program is divided into nine sections: from music, theater and painting to literature, dance and performance. The venue is “The Stage” in Schlüchterns Gartenstraße 50. The opening event on Thursday, March 19th begins at 6:10 p.m. The next day, on March 20th, the “Duo Grande” with Leander Kippenberg (cello) and Salvatore Di Lorenzo (violin) will perform there at 8:10 p.m. As artistic cross-border artists, they play, among other things, a half-hour work by Zoltan Kodaly.
On Saturday, March 21st, the dance company “Artodance” has a home game from 8:10 p.m. with the performance “Tanz, Dorle, Tanz!”, a homage to the Schlüchtern artist Dorle Obländer, who died in 2016, whose colorful and often cheeky, bizarre (female) figures are staged in dance.
Andreas Wellano is the great-nephew of the legendary Liesl Karlstadt, who once formed a virtually inseparable comedian duo with Karl Valentin. Wellano will slip into the role of his great-aunt on Sunday, March 22nd, from 6:10 p.m. and trace her life “as a drama and grand opera” in a solo piece.
Together with “Artodance”, three musicians from Leipzig will improvise a very special dialogue with the world of dance movement in “Klang-Körper/Börper-Klang” on Monday, March 23rd, from 8:10 p.m. using acoustic and electronic sounds.
Diverse program: The cultural work week at a glance
On Friday, March 27th, “Käpt'n Offenbach” starts at 8:10 p.m. This group of friends inaugurated a “sailing ship” with an evening of sea shanties in a trendy bar in Offenbach. This project of a “band that doesn’t actually exist” was repeated with every move. Songs about the sea, the harbor, longing and farewell can be expected in Schlüchtern.
Christiane Burkard from the theater “mimikri” promises a “poetic intervention on the open heart” on Saturday, March 28th, from 8:10 p.m. with the title “I don't grumble”. She wants to combine language arts with acting, masks and music as well as comedy and tragedy.
The former editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine “Titanic”, Thomas Gsella, will be a guest on Tuesday, March 24th, 8:10 p.m., with “Love, Thirst and Politics” and will be presenting verses and satirical prose.
A lecture by Christian Quarch including a discussion is on the program on Wednesday, March 25th, at 7:10 p.m. It is important to discuss “leeway and playing times as counterpoints to a thoroughly economized world”. On Thursday, March 26th, the quintet “Five Brass On A Hand” will be serving a special kind of brass music from 7:10 p.m.
The final point will be a creative day on Sunday, March 29th from 10:10 a.m., which will culminate in a finissage at 4:10 p.m. On all days, works by Angelika Summa, Bernd Schulz and Martina Bernasko as well as goldsmith's art by Martina Tornow can be viewed in “The Stage”.
