A 34-year-old daycare teacher from the Vogelsberg district is in custody on suspicion of sexual abuse of children in six cases.
Vogelsberg – The man was brought before the responsible investigating judge on Tuesday (February 24th) at the request of the Gießen public prosecutor, as the authority announced. An arrest warrant was issued on suspicion of sexual abuse of children under protection in several cases and the creation of child pornographic material. The accused, who has not yet been convicted, exercised his right to remain silent and is now in a Hessian correctional facility.

According to the police, the measures were preceded by investigations on relevant portals on the Darknet. These initially led to the initiation of proceedings against the man on suspicion of possession of child pornographic content. As a result, the Gießen public prosecutor's office obtained a search warrant, which was executed on Monday (February 23) by the East Hesse criminal police.
The investigators seized numerous data carriers and other evidence. During an initial evaluation, the officers came across extensive images and video material. According to current findings, the man, who worked as a teacher in a daycare center in Grebenhain until his arrest, is said to have sexually abused a total of six boys – the police estimate their age to be “around four years” – during his job and to have taken corresponding images. The identity of the children has not yet been conclusively clarified.
The investigations by the police and public prosecutor's office, in particular the detailed evaluation of the seized data carriers and numerous witness interviews, are ongoing. According to the public prosecutor's office, it cannot currently be ruled out that further attacks occurred. For tactical reasons and to protect the personal rights of those affected, the authorities do not currently want to provide any further information.

According to the authorities, the police are in contact with those suspected of being affected and, together with the responsible specialist departments, are ensuring comprehensive care and support.
