The planned contribution rate stabilization law is intended to keep contributions to statutory health insurance stable. But from the perspective of the DRK district association Gelnhausen-Schlüchtern, this very goal could have unintended consequences – especially for emergency care on site.

Salmünster – Since the beginning of the 2000s, the rescue station of the German Red Cross (DRK) has been working from the site of the former Salmünster Hospital in Salmünster. Since then, the premises have been considered temporary and are not optimal due to the old building structure. The participants were able to see this for themselves in a small discussion group. Mayor Dominik Brasch (CDU) invited Fabian Gastine, board member and head of the emergency services at the DRK district association Gelnhausen-Schlüchtern, the CDU member of the Bundestag Johannes Wiegelmann and André Muth from KIZ Bau.

The future of the new rescue station in Salmünster is in jeopardy

The plans and decisions for a new rescue station on the Woco site on Hanauer Strasse have already progressed to the construction process. From the perspective of the DRK district association, discussions about the federal government's planned contribution rate stabilization law are now causing considerable uncertainty. Gastine explained that support for investments by the health insurance companies that had already been promised in discussions would be called into question. The AOK, for example, has stopped all new building projects at Hesse level. The question arises as to how security of supply for the population should be guaranteed in the long term.

At the request of the SPD parliamentary group in the city council, there should be an investor competition for the former hospital site in Salmünster. If the rescue station now stationed there loses its location, Bad Soden-Salmünster will no longer have a rescue station. That probably can't be the case, summarized Helga Groß, who is responsible for finances at the DRK district association. Compliance with legally prescribed rescue deadlines would then no longer be possible, said Brasch, who in this context also discussed merging the two municipal fire departments in Bad Soden and Salmünster with the municipal public order police and the rescue station.

While as a local politician he sees the need for a new building, Bundestag member Johannes Wiegelmann stated: The federal government also has no financial leeway. Nevertheless, a solution needs to be found. Those involved agreed to involve the district and to jointly draw attention to the concrete consequences of current discussions and to demand improvements. The construction of a new rescue station is not only planned in Salmünster: also The community of Sinntal can be happy about this project. 2.3 million euros are earmarked for the construction project.
