Finally a ray of hope on the horizon?
In the last few days, the weather in Germany has been dominated by rain, dense clouds and cool temperatures. But the longed-for change in the weather could occur before Pentecost – thanks to an approaching high-pressure area that will cause temperatures to rise significantly. You can find out here where temperatures of up to 30 degrees are possible on the Pentecost weekend and when the wet and cold weather finally ends.
First thunderstorm, then sun? The forecast before Pentecost shows changeable weather
Pentecost is just around the corner – and with it the longed-for change in the weather! A high pressure area from the southwest could finally put an end to the wet and cold weather phase. But be careful: Before Pentecost ushers in early summer, the weather gets moody again!
The week starts mostly dry, in any case from the north to the southeast. In the west, however, rain is expected, which will move to the center of the country during Monday. In the afternoon there is a risk of isolated thunderstorms, heavy rain, small hail and even squalls. Maximum values are 14 to 19 degrees, in the east up to 22 degrees. The nighttime temperatures reach lows of three to eight degrees. Rain showers follow in the extreme north and south of Bavaria, but these quickly subside in the broad center.

On Tuesday it's a similar story: sun and rain showers alternate. In the east there is more sun, but there are also thunderstorms in the afternoon. Wednesday things go downhill again. The sun is less visible and rain and storm clouds dominate the sky. There will be a ray of hope on Thursday: In the southwest it will remain mostly sunny and free of precipitation. Otherwise it will still be cloudy in Germany, but the showers are steadily decreasing. Temperatures of up to 18 to 23 degrees can be expected, in the southwest even up to 26 degrees – a foretaste of the change in the weather?

While Germany is still struggling with rain and wind during the week, from Friday it's time to take a deep breath – and ideally relax in the sun. On Friday, May 22, 2026, it should not only be sunny, but also warm in summer. Temperatures of 20 to 25, in the southwest even up to 29 degrees, are to be expected.

Things get even better on Pentecost weekend: Temperatures of up to 30 degrees send Germany into early summer The high temperatures are particularly realistic in the southwest, around the Rhine – from Freiburg to the Rhine-Main area – 30 degrees are most likely. But similar values could also be achieved in Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and the Ruhr area. Even in other regions of Germany it is getting warmer, with temperatures of up to 28 degrees.
Despite the anticipation of the suddenly rising temperatures, caution is advised, as there are still uncertainties regarding the risk of thunderstorms and showers.
