Steinau an der Straße – The 68-year-old driver crashed his Fiat Doblo head-on into a tree in Steinau in the Ulmbach district on Tuesday morning (May 12th). The vehicle spun due to the force of the impact and finally came to a stop in the yard of an adjacent property, according to the police.

The accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. on the street “In der Anlagen”, not far from the Mariae Himmelfahrt church. According to police, the driver probably lost control of his pickup truck at a narrowing in the road. Rescue workers took the seriously injured 68-year-old to a hospital. Among other things, vertebral injuries are suspected.
According to police, the exact cause of the accident is still unclear. A medical emergency cannot be ruled out. Officials estimate the material damage at around 15,000 euros. The Fiat Doblo probably suffered a total economic loss and had to be towed away.
