Fulda – How can Europe become braver in times of crisis? This question is the focus of an academy evening with the long-time Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn at the Catholic Academy of the Diocese of Fulda.

The discussion evening entitled “Why Europe has to be braver now” will take place on Thursday, May 7th at 7 p.m. in the Bonifatiushaus. As the Diocese of Fulda announces, the guest is Jean Asselborn, who helped shape European politics as Luxembourg's chief diplomat for almost two decades and left office in 2023 after 19 years.
On the eve of the celebrations for Europe Day in Fulda and two days before the official Europe Day on May 9th, it is intended to take a look at the challenges of the present: crises that put coexistence to the test, the need for a strong and united Europe and the question of how people can stand together, share ideas and see diversity as strength. At the same time, Asselborn will present his new book “The Tour of His Life”.

On Friday, May 8th, the Catholic Academy of the Diocese of Fulda, together with various cooperation partners, is organizing the Europe Day “Under the Holy Cross” in Fulda city center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. According to the diocese, creative contributions, inspiring conversations and exciting encounters on the podium and at action stands are planned. The Catholic Parish of Fulda, the KAB Fulda and the BDKJ Fulda are among those taking part. The events frame the local celebrations surrounding Europe Day on May 9th.
