What's next in the neighborhood? Love, lies, farewell sex at GZSZ?! Anna-Katharina Fecher reveals details about the series drama
What happens next in the love triangle?
The current episodes on GZSZ deliver high tension – emotionally and criminally. Also in the center: Matilda, Erik and Toni, caught in a web of love, loyalty and momentous decisions. The actress Anna-Katharina Fecher describes the dynamic vividly: “Matilda loves Erik – and even if she knows that he is not good for her, in a special moment the love and familiarity wins.” A moment that changes everything and ends it at the same time: “It’s basically farewell sex.” At the same time, events surrounding Zoe's murder are accelerating – false alibis and increasing pressure. The actress now tells us in an interview what's next in the neighborhood. In our spoiler video you can see how Erik's new misstep doesn't remain a secret for long.
Matilda wants a relationship with Erik
How does Erik and Matilda end up sleeping together again?
“Actually, Matilda just wanted to help Erik. She was worried that he would get hypothermia if he fell asleep drunk on the park bench at night, so she took him to the hotel. She looked after him when he wasn't feeling well. And when he woke up and there was an intimate moment, both of them couldn't resist. Matilda loves Erik – and even if she knows that he's not good for her, love and intimacy wins in a special moment. After that, however, he makes her “It's clear that it was the last time, or she already suspects it and leaves. It's basically farewell sex.”
Does this mean the final end of their affair?
“Yes, Matilda doesn't want to have an affair anymore either. Formally it wouldn't be one anymore, since Erik and Toni are separated, but she wants a relationship – but only if he chooses her.”
How does Toni find out about this?
“The evening in the hotel is the night Zoe was murdered. Since Matilda is suspected, she decides to testify falsely and protects Erik by coming up with an alibi. But the situation comes to a head and the bank suffers from the rumors. Erik decides to have the strength to tell the police – including Toni – the truth. So Matilda is no longer suspected, while Erik's confession tears the rug out from under Toni. It remains exciting.”

Why does this final meeting cause so much trouble for Erik and Matilda?
“As a result, Erik finally loses Toni and Matilda has the feeling that she has harmed Erik again. She no longer wants to stand between Toni and Erik and is trying to free herself from Erik.”
Is Matilda really giving up on Erik now or is there still a glimmer of hope?
“The rational part of her knows that Erik wants Toni back. Matilda may subconsciously hope for this, but that's exactly what's standing in her way. She tries to throw herself into work and forget about Erik, which she only manages to do every now and then.”

“Always being second choice feels terrible!”
Can you understand the saying “Everything is allowed in love”?
“Yes and no. Yes, everyone should be allowed to love whoever he or she wants – regardless of gender, skin color, religion, etc. In love, everything is only allowed as far as the couple defines it together. There is no unconditional love between adults – it only exists between parents and children. Love should not be linked to the fulfillment of expectations, but for me a couple relationship works more easily if there is consistency, respect and appreciation. If that starts to falter, you can do it out of love Forgive. Every person has been shaped individually – love can grow, falling in love happens. That's a chemical process, but a healthy love is created on an equal level: being able to get involved with each other, to be able to grow with each other and to strengthen each other. But in love you are only allowed to do what you want to allow.

Is there still a chance for Matilda and Erik to be lovers?
RTL / Bernd Jaworek
The affair put Matilda under enormous psychological pressure – could you endure something like that in private?
“No, I couldn't. Being insecurely attached is a terrible feeling. In my opinion, Matilda is a fearful attachment type and Erik was her first great love. Matilda wants to be with Erik, Erik fights against his feelings. He wants Toni back. Matilda cannot be well as long as she remains in this position. It may be nice to be the lover for a while, but that has little to do with stability and openness. Erik and Matilda are alive in a bubble, so of course everything is “secret”. That can be attractive, but for me it would be unhealthy. Always being the second choice feels terrible, I think. But you can’t always control feelings.”
What can viewers look forward to in the coming weeks?
“It's going to be very exciting – a cool murder and crime story with lots of suspects. It's definitely worth tuning in, guessing who did it and getting excited. It's going to be very investigative, threatening and emotional.”
