The start of the outdoor pool season couldn't have gone better: blue sky, blue water, sunshine. On the first day of the new season, 900 guests visited the Rosenbad in Fulda.
Fulda – Update from May 1st, 4:58 p.m.: 900 guests visited the Rosenbad on the first day of the new outdoor pool season. RhönEnergie announced this in a press release. In addition, 500 season tickets have already been sold. With bright sunshine and temperatures of up to 21 degrees, all pools were well used, the statement says.

During the breaks between swimming, visitors enjoyed the sun in the cafeteria area or on the new loungers between palm trees. “We had a really good and relaxed outdoor pool atmosphere. This means that visiting the swimming pool is fun for both the guests and our employees,” reported RhönEnergie spokesman Dr. Volker Nies.
First report from May 1st, 11:46 a.m.: It's 8.30 a.m. – and more than 30 bathers are already standing in front of the still closed gates of the Rosenau outdoor pool in Fulda – Rosenbad for short. All around you can hear a cheerful “Morning, morning, nice to see you.” Many of the visitors have known each other for several decades. Real clubs have formed there.
Evi Weisel (77) is one of them. She has been one of the spa's regular guests for over 65 years. Just like her sister Gaby Lücke (81). Anne Klüh (77) moved to Fulda from the far north in 1971 – and since then she has been going to the Rosenbad (almost) every day in the summer. “My children learned to swim in this pool,” she reports with a smile.

And this is also a tradition: The pool staff will give out a rose to the first 100 visitors – and, as expected, they are gone in no time. Speaking of employees: you can tell everyone how much they are looking forward to the new season. Lifeguard Florenz Schramm (22) beams at the guests. He has known some of them for some time. “It’s finally running again and we’re getting out of the indoor pool and into the sun,” he says with a laugh.
Then it starts: the first swimmers plunge into the “waters” of the 50-meter pool at 9:05 a.m. Breaststroke and backstroke are on the program. Martin Schulz from Fulda is one of them. The 37-year-old is also a regular guest and assures: “It's just fun and you've done something good for your body at the start of the summer.”
Many regular guests have been coming to the Rosenbad for decades
Carmen Malkmus (62) is also a familiar face in the bathroom. The woman from Fulda has been coming as a visitor for over 25 years – she definitely doesn't want to miss the start. “It's 'my' swimming pool and always a dream!” The smaller pool is more comfortable. There's a lot of swimming there, but there's always time for a little chat – you haven't seen each other for a long time. If it's still too cool for a swim at this time, you can fortify yourself with a coffee in the cafeteria.
And the children? They're having a lot of fun. The long slide is conquered with joy and slid down with lots of laughter. The focus is also on having fun on the diving platform. Laughing loudly, the young guests jump into the cool water.
A lot has happened in the Rosenau outdoor pool. In the entrance area, the wooden ceiling had to give way to make way for a lighter structure. New screed and tiles were also laid. The changing rooms are new and decorated in green and wood look. Six new trees were planted on the lawns and large benches were set up for relaxation. This means that nothing stands in the way of bathing fun in the coming months – only the sun has to give its best.
