
After an accident on the A7 near Fulda, the southbound carriageway was completely closed for a short time. A driver left the road and landed in a ditch.
Fulda – Update from April 30th, 8:49 p.m.: The driver first got onto the hard shoulder and then into the adjacent grass verge. There he drove onto the beginning of the guardrail, hit an electronic traffic sign and after about 40 meters was diverted from the guardrail into the side ditch. His badly damaged car came to a halt on all four wheels at an angle to the road. The driver was able to free himself from the wreckage.
Other road users reported the accident. A radio patrol from the Petersberg police motorway station, two ambulances, a vehicle from the Fulda fire department and the Christoph 28 rescue helicopter manned by an emergency doctor then went to the scene of the accident.

The police temporarily completely closed the southbound lane of the A7 so that the helicopter could land. There were traffic delays; a radio warning message was broadcast. A diversion was not necessary due to the short duration of the closure.
After initial medical treatment, an ambulance took the injured man to a nearby hospital. A towing service recovered the damaged car. The Petersberg police motorway station accompanied the recovery work until it was completed at around 7.45 p.m. The police estimate the property damage at around 30,000 euros.
First report: A 63-year-old driver drove his Mini Cooper off the road on Thursday (April 30) around 6 p.m. on the A7 in the direction of Fulda, between the Hünfeld/Schlitz and Fulda-Nord junctions. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the solo accident and was taken to a hospital in an ambulance, police said.
