Frosty nights are in store for Hesse

More sun, milder weather during the day and a continued risk of frost at night characterize the weather in Hesse this week.

Fulda/Offenbach – Tuesday (April 21st) the sky shows up Hesse Initially partly cloudy, it becomes increasingly clear as the day progresses. Isolated rain showers are only possible in the south. The maximum temperatures are between 13 and 16 degrees, in the higher mountains around 10 degrees. On the night of Wednesday (April 22nd) the temperatures drop to around freezing point, and in some valleys in the mountains to -2 degrees. Light frost occurs widely near the ground. But that's not all: a few snowflakes can also fall in Hesse, warns the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach. “On Wednesday night above 400 to 500 meters there will be 1 to 3 centimeters of fresh snow and the associated slippery conditions,” says the weather forecasters’ current report.

Hesse faces cold nights with frost on the ground

After a sunny Wednesday with temperatures of up to 19 degrees, meteorologists expect occasional light frost down to -2 degrees in valley areas on Thursday night (April 23rd). Frost is likely to occur widely on the ground.

According to the German Weather Service, Thursday will be sunny and free of precipitation. The Temperatures are rising like last week to 18 to 22 degrees, in the higher mountains to around 16 degrees. The wind is light to moderate from the northwest. On the night of Friday (April 24th) it will initially be slightly cloudy, but as it progresses the cloudiness will increase from the north, where it can become foggy and cloudy in places. It stays dry. The temperature drops to 4 to 1 degrees, in valleys and hollows to 0 degrees. “More widespread frost is expected near the ground,” said the weather experts. However, the risk of frost is decreasing across Germany.

On Friday it will be clear, partly cloudy in the north, but still free of precipitation. The maximum temperatures are between 14 and 17 degrees in the north and in the higher mountains, and 17 to 21 degrees in the south. The wind in Hesse blows weak to moderately from the northwest.
