But the calculation didn't work out. The vehicle owner had stored his key in a special signal-blocking box. Since the perpetrators could not receive a signal, they aborted their plan and left the yard in an unknown direction.
The video from a surveillance camera, which was shared in the Facebook group “You are Burghauner, if…”, documents the attempted theft and causes outrage. In the footage, a hooded man can be seen walking along the house with a technical device. Apparently he tried to intercept the signal from the keyless go key inside the building and forward it to the vehicle. A Mini car can also be seen in the parking lot; According to the owner, the Porsche was standing right next to it at the time of the crime.
In connection with the attempted theft, the East Hesse police headquarters provides recommendations for owners of vehicles with a keyless go system:
- Before purchasing a vehicle, consider the safety aspect of the Keyless Go system and deactivate the system if possible.
- Never store the key near the house or apartment door; the distance to the vehicle should be as large as possible.
- Shield the key's radio signal with suitable covers, such as aluminum covers – Caution: simple aluminum foil does not offer reliable protection.
- It is essential to carry out a self-test: The vehicle must not open if the shielded key is held directly next to the vehicle door.
The East Hesse Police Headquarters will receive information about the attempted theft of the Porsche on telephone number (0661) 1050. Reports can also be sent to any other police station or via the Online watch possible.
