Two injured amusement park visitors were taken to the clinic. Three other passengers, two 39-year-old women and a man (46), did not come to the hospital after receiving initial care. They were all in the train car that had derailed.

“Due to a misjudgment by the driver” The operators of the Hochschaubahn told the APA that the train was going too fast before the end of the journey. It goes on to say: “Because the emergency braking system was not activated, the first wagon derailed.” The driver traveled in the second carriage as planned.

The operators immediately started the rescue chain. “It is emphasized that this unfortunate incident did not occur due to a technical failure, but rather a human one. We wish everyone affected a speedy recovery.” The emergency alert was received by the police at around 12:15 p.m. and the police and rescue operation was over at around 1:30 p.m. Children are said not to have been present during the incident.

The Prater is cult in the capital of Austria. The railway now affected is considered one of the oldest active aerial railways in the world. It was completed in 1950 and is one of the last old buildings in Vienna's Wurstelprater. It is run as a family business and is still in its original condition as a purely wooden building with a conventional rail system and on-board brakeman.
