With the closure of the “Elektro Enders” shop for household goods, porcelain and glassware as well as decorative and gift items, an era in Bad Soden-Salmünster ends.
Bad Soden-Salmünster – Irene Enders looks back on the last 65 years a little wistfully, but also happily. For decades she was the very competent specialist and the good soul of the business. Every customer always felt welcome and was given good advice and service in a professional and friendly manner.
After the closure was announced, many people stopped by, trying to fill in what was still missing in the household or perhaps even try to find a bargain. Above all, they thanked Irene Enders (husband Manfred Enders, master electrician and radio and television technician, has already died) and her daughter Birgit Enders-Jacob for the always professionally competent and friendly service. In an interview with our newspaper, Irene Enders remembers the beginnings.
Business closure in Kinzigtal: Elektro Enders closes operations
After her marriage to Manfred Enders in 1961, she joined the company. Back then, wood, coal and oil stoves were still in the repertoire, heating oil was also sold and of course over the years the offerings were continually adapted to people's needs. Manfred Enders recognized the signs of the times, trained as a radio and television technician, completed his master's examination and, in addition to washing machines, stoves and other electrical appliances, also offered radios, televisions and other entertainment devices in the shop. The house was also extended and rebuilt to accommodate this change.
A long shop window front provided a view of the expanded store and the goods from the outside. The offerings changed over the decades. And lastly, Trendhaus Enders, as the store was named, was a destination for people looking for beautiful and tasteful tableware, glassware, decorative items, gifts, things for the kitchen and more. You could also purchase small electrical appliances such as kettles or hairdryers. That has now come to an end, as the trend house closed its doors at the end of March.
But it's not completely over yet: Birgit Enders-Jacob will be offering some of the shop's products at the Sunday market in Bad Soden on the first Sunday of every month. There will be a sale, and anyone who wants to purchase something can also make an appointment by phone. (By Elisabeth Schmitt)
