Two well-known sights in Schlitzerland awaken from hibernation just in time for Easter: the Hinterturm and the Castle Museum invite you to visit them.
Schlitz – The back tower, which transforms into the largest candle in the world around Adventis offering a special promotion at the start of the season on the Easter holidays: On Easter Sunday (April 5th), guests can look forward to an Easter extra. The first 100 visitors receive free entry and a small gift – you can choose from a colorful Easter egg or a treat from the Schlitzer distillery, who distill a special schnapps for Hesse Day.
Schlitzer Hinterturm and Castle Museum will reopen at Easter
The tower opens from 1 p.m. and offers easy access to just below the top thanks to an elevator. From there you have an impressive view over the old town and the Schlitzerland. The tower guides are available to answer questions and tell exciting stories about the historic building.
A trip to the Hinterturm is doubly worthwhile: for the whole family there is not only history and panorama, but also a little Easter surprise to start spring. The rear tower is open on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday from 1 p.m.
Castle Museum celebrates special anniversary with special exhibition
The Castle Museum is also starting the new season in line with Easter and is celebrating a special anniversary this year: 100 years of museum history in Schlitz. On this occasion, a selection of Count Carl's travel souvenirs from China will be presented in a special exhibition. The impressive porcelain collection shows detailed depictions of civil life as well as scenes from the environment of a mandarin.
In addition, the permanent exhibition has been expanded: a separate showcase is now dedicated to the former Langheinrich weaving mill. Together with the presentation of the products of the former Driessen linen industry, the exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the tradition of linen weaving in Schlitz. The Castle Museum team awaits its guests from Friday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and also on Easter Monday.
A visit to Schlitz is particularly worthwhile during the Easter holidays – with exciting insights into history and tradition as well as a small Easter highlight high above the roofs of the city.
