A 23-year-old defendant is missing from the court date in Gelnhausen: Now he is receiving his suspended sentence by mail.
Sinntal – His public defender was there, as was the judge and public prosecutor as well as a witness to the event – only the defendant in the proceedings stayed away from the hearing at the Gelnhausen district court.
And this despite the fact that, according to court documents, the 23-year-old was sent the summons to the appointment by post in a timely manner. But the Sinntaler was missing and didn't offer any excuse in advance.
Defendant is missing from trial – verdict arrives by post
The Hanau public prosecutor's office accused the young man of burglary. In 2024 he is said to have broken into someone else's property in Sinntal, to which he had a personal connection. The violent entry also resulted in property damage. However, the building is said to have been under renovation at the time of the crime.
The 23-year-old has often come into conflict with the judiciary. He has already been legally convicted five times in the past. The final sanction was given to him at the Bad Kissingen district court. There he was sentenced to a hefty fine of 2,200 euros (220 daily rates of ten euros each) for two cases of intentional bodily harm and threats.
Because those involved in this case did not want to remain idle without the defendant's presence, they mutually agreed to impose a penalty order, which will now be delivered to the 23-year-old by post. Accordingly, he was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for three years. (ls)
A man also recently had to answer before the Fulda district court: A 32-year-old was convicted there of robbery and assault – the two acts were a bit strange.
