After 11 years in office, Dr. Olaf Dahlmann (SPD) will no longer run as mayor of the municipality of Wartenberg in the election to be held in August.
Wartenberg – Even after almost two terms in office, Dr. Olaf Dahlmann (SPD) still generally enjoys his job as mayor of Wartenberg, he writes in a press release. The decision was the result of a personal and family consideration, also linked to the desire for a career change. “I believe that in a democracy change is sometimes necessary,” writes Dahlmann.

“Until the end of my term of office in January 2027, I will work for Wartenberg with all my strength and joy and fulfill the tasks entrusted to me. My heartfelt thanks go to all the people who have supported me positively on this path: First and foremost, my employees in the administration and on the construction site, who do their best every day with great dedication and commitment, as well as the local citizens. I am grateful for the many encounters, conversations and shared moments that greatly enrich my work in Wartenberg enriched us,” Dahlmann continued.
Dahlmann has been mayor of the municipality of Wartenberg since January 2015. He was directly elected in the 2014 election with more than 57.2 percent of the vote. In November 2020, Dahlmann was confirmed in office with 70.95 percent. Finally, he explains that he will continue to be active in local politics on a voluntary basis in the Vogelsberg district council.
Numerous decisions and projects were made during his time as mayor. These include the connection of the Angersbach sewage treatment plant to Lauterbach as well as the “Veilsheckenweg” housing project. In Landenhausen he pushed forward the variant planning for a village community center, and it has now been decided to renovate the gymnasium. The community also invested extensively in the volunteer fire department's vehicle fleet. The opening hours of the two kindergartens were significantly expanded, and an extension was built to the Angersbach daycare center.
There will also be a change in the municipality of Nüsttal: After twelve years, Mayor Marion Frohnapfel (CDU) says goodbye.
