The Main-Kinzig district is planning to build a new rescue station in Mottgers. This is intended to significantly improve emergency care in Sinntal.
Sinntal – “Good news for the community of Sinntal and the Bergwinkel: The district committee of the Main-Kinzig district has decided to build a new rescue station in Mottgers in order to improve emergency medical care.” This is how a press release from the Main-Kinzig district begins.
At an on-site visit, District Administrator Thorsten Stolz, Mayor Thomas Henfling, Dr. Manuel Wilhelm, medical director of the emergency services, and district council chairman Carsten Ullrich inspect the property, which is located directly on the L2304 road. The budget has earmarked 2.3 million euros for the construction project.
Main-Kinzig district is planning to build a new rescue station
“The property is very suitable for building a rescue station. The location alone speaks for this: being located directly on the state road, it enables rapid deployment. This means for the people of Sinntal that the ambulance can be on site quickly when every minute counts,” said District Administrator Thorsten Stolz (SPD).
“With the decision to build a new rescue station in Sinntal, we are strengthening the rural area in particular and ensuring that Sinntal will continue to be a good place to live and work in the future. We are thus strengthening the emergency services in Bergwinkel,” the MKK district administrator continued.
Mayor Thomas Henfling (independent) also welcomed the decision and was pleased that a suitable property could be found in Mottgers and that the emergency services in the municipality of Sinntal would thus be improved. Dr. Manuel Wilhelm explained the background: “So far, the rescue station has been rented in the Lebensbaum facility of the old people’s and care centers in Sterbfritz.”
Relocation of the guard from Sterbfritz to Mottgers
“However, the rooms there no longer meet the current requirements in terms of room sizes and construction and safety technology, so a new building makes perfect sense,” reported Dr. Manuel Wilhelm. The framework conditions of the state of Hesse could only be met economically through a new building.
An analysis of the development of the emergency service showed that an additional ambulance was needed. This requires a second parking space as well as appropriate functional and social rooms for the staff. The relocation of the rescue station from Sterbfritz to Mottgers is based on a georeferenced operational data analysis and simulated accessibility of emergency events. In Mottgers, overlaps with the rescue station in Schlüchtern are reduced.
“Overall, this means improved coverage within ten minutes, especially for the areas of Altengronau, Züntersbach and parts of Oberzell. Within twelve minutes, it is also possible to reach peripheral areas of the supply area such as Neuengronau and Jossa. At the new location, an additional 179 emergency operations could be covered within the ten-minute response period in an annual overview,” informed the Main-Kinzig district.
The guard is scheduled to be completed by 2028
The new rescue station in Mottgers will be built based on the model of the rescue station in Biebergemünd-Bieber. A single-story building without a basement is planned, which includes two parking spaces for emergency vehicles as well as social and technical rooms. The construction is part of an investment strategy by the Main-Kinzig district to optimize the rescue stations in Sinntal, Waechtersbach and Jossgrund.
The guard is scheduled to be completed by early 2028. The 24-hour ambulance will then be moved from Sterbfritz to Mottgers, and a daytime ambulance with 12-hour duty hours will be added. The DRK district association Gelnhausen-Schlüchtern will act as tenant and service provider of the rescue station.
With one Since January 2026, the Fulda district has been improving the emergency service in its southern area with the provisional station in Flieden. A new building is planned there in the long term. The location in Flieden was added to the rescue stations in Lütter and Neuhof.
