A serious motorcycle accident near Schotten led to a rescue mission. A helicopter pilot was hit. The police are investigating.
Scots – Update from March 12th, 9:17 a.m.: A previously unknown male driver is suspected of intentionally hitting the pilot of a rescue helicopter with his car on Sunday (March 8th) during operations on the B276 (see initial report). The police now announced this.
At around 2.30 p.m. emergency services closed the federal highway due to ongoing rescue operations and a rescue helicopter landed on the road. According to police, the unknown driver of a dark sedan initially drove past the barrier. When the pilot stood in front of his helicopter and spoke to the man, he showed little understanding – and drove his car into the pilot's leg. Fortunately, the pilot was uninjured.

After the incident, the driver turned around and disappeared in an unknown direction. The person wanted is described in the police report as follows: male, around 65 to 70 years old, around 170 cm tall, white, wavy hair, reddish complexion.

On Sunday afternoon (March 8th) an accident occurred on the B276 federal highway at around 2:30 p.m. According to the East Hesse police headquarters, two motorcyclists from the Giessen district were traveling from Schotten in the Vogelsberg district towards Laubach in the Giessen district.

A collision occurred near the junction with K222, which leads to the Schotten district hospital. The 29-year-old motorcyclist, who was riding behind a 33-year-old cyclist, was inattentive and touched the motorcycle in front with his bike. This caused the younger driver to fall.
