The police carried out traffic checks in several cities and communities in the Main-Kinzig district and in Hanau. The focus was on the requirement to wear a seat belt.

Main-Kinzig district – Among other things, police officers checked in Schlüchtern on Tuesday morning (March 10th) between 8:45 and 10 a.m. The police stopped five people who were not wearing seatbelts in the car. They also stopped an e-scooter driver who was traveling without valid insurance. Another road user was suspected of taking drugs and was due to have his blood taken at the police station.

Checks were also carried out between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the amphitheater in Hanau and at the bus stop at the football stadium in Offenbach. At the end of the inspection there were eleven belt violations and five cell phone violations. The officers also filed a criminal complaint on suspicion of violating the Insurance Act and punished a violation of applicable social regulations.

In Maintal, the officers also checked on Edisonstrasse with a focus on wearing a seat belt. According to police, 43 vehicles and 55 people were checked during the operation, which lasted several hours. In total, the forces punished 17 administrative offenses, including several violations of the seat belt requirement. In light of the results, those responsible once again warn urgently about the risks of driving without a seatbelt and being distracted by cell phones.

“Road users should always wear their seat belts and avoid using their cell phones while driving,” warns the police. The belt is “one of the most important safety systems in the car”; Even at low speeds, an accident without a seat belt can have serious consequences. A belt worn could save lives in an emergency. Using your cell phone while driving – even for a quick glance – slows down reaction times and thus increases the risk of accidents. Distracted driving is one of the highest risks of accidents.

Meanwhile ended a routine police check in Steinau an der Straße with a large drug discovery.
