“Thanks to the rapid passing on of information by witnesses,” these could have been stopped and prosecuted at an early stage by the police forces deployed. “Early in the evening, a drunk, well-known person gave the Hitler salute in front of the stage on Universitätsplatz,” reported a police spokesman. The person was arrested.

At around 10:15 p.m., a drunk man injured an emergency service employee in the wrist in the area of Cathedral Square when she tried to take him to an accident assistance center. Criminal proceedings were also initiated in this case. Later that evening there was a physical altercation with another drunken person at the Bundeswehr festival site.

In this case too, the police had to intervene. “Our emergency services are available to citizens at any time on the Hessentag grounds and immediately follow up on information about any criminal offenses,” emphasized the officials on Sunday afternoon.

The Fulda police reminded that Hessentag is associated with an increased volume of traffic. The arrival and departure of visitors has been smooth overall so far. To ensure a stress-free arrival and departure, the police continue to recommend using public transport.
