On Wednesday night, a truck burst into flames on the A7 near Bad Hersfeld. The police complained that a missing emergency lane hindered the emergency services.
Bad Hersfeld – According to a police report, at around 1 a.m. early on Wednesday morning (June 10th), a truck loaded with building materials burst into flames on the A7 between Bad Hersfeld and the Kirchheimer triangle. The cause of the fire was probably a technical defect. The 50-year-old driver from the Regensburg district was able to save himself in time and remained uninjured.

However, the highway had to be completely closed for almost three hours while the fire was extinguished. The fire was not completely extinguished until around 3:45 a.m. The fire brigades from Bad Hersfeld and Kirchheim were on duty. One of three lanes was then opened during the cleaning and towing work.
In their report, however, the police mention a “downside”: Many truck drivers had not formed an emergency lane in the traffic jam and had also blocked the third lane. The emergency services from the highway maintenance department and the towing service only arrived at the scene after a considerable delay.
Meanwhile, on the A5 was just behind the Hattenbacher triangle a logging truck tipped on its side. The load was spread over the entire road.
