These words are encouraging!
It recently became known that TV chef Johann Lafer (68) is battling lymph node cancer. A fight that luckily he doesn't have to go through alone. Because at his side is his wife Silvia, who now tells openly how she is helping him through this difficult time. And between chemo, small rituals and great hope, there are the first cautious rays of hope.

Johann Lafer doesn't want crippling pity

At the end of May, Johann Lafer made it public that he was suffering from lymph node cancer. The TV chef is fighting the disease with chemotherapy.

It is clear: The diagnosis changed the Lafers' lives. But Silvia is obviously trying to capture exactly what is quickly lost in such an exceptional situation. Everyday. Quiet. Normality. During therapy, she provides her Johann with little things that are good. With “gummy bears and Diet Coke”, as she now tells Bild am Sonntag. At the same time, she knows that too much pity would not help her husband. Constantly saying “Oh, you poor guy” would obviously be exactly the wrong thing for Johann Lafer.

“Johann still has a lot planned,” she says. Cancel appointments? She offered that to him. But Johann Lafer apparently didn't want to put on the brakes. His wife sees him almost more active than before the diagnosis.

Reading tip: This is how things continue for Johann Lafer

Two and a half years ago, Johann Lafer was said to have had enlarged lymph nodes discovered. The doctors encouraged him at the time: “You won’t die from this disease.” The chemo is stressful, but promising. According to Silvia, initial progress is already being made. The lymphomas would have been roughly halved.

She trusts the doctors at Mainz University Hospital, she says. No trace of fear of loss. Instead, she firmly believes that her husband will beat cancer.

And the whole of TV Germany hopes so at the same time!
