Casey confronts her father about her aunt's suspicions, and lo and behold: he also admitted to suspecting that Casey's mother was cheating on him with her sister's husband at the time of Casey's conception. But simply asking the two of them was not possible because both Casey's mother and her uncle had already died. So father and daughter decided to do a DNA test. And with the results they received proof: “There was no agreement,” says Casey. Instead, they found unusually high similarities with her uncle's family.

That's when it occurred to Casey for the first time that her cousin wasn't her cousin and her uncle couldn't be her uncle. When she tells Alana about it, the two women also decide to take a DNA test. A grueling period of waiting begins as Casey shares her story on TiKTok. The videos are going viral, numerous people are interested in the family history of the two women and are excited about the long-awaited result. And sure enough: at the end of February, Casey and Alana shared a video in which they announced “sisters confirmed.” Their DNA is a 35 to 40 percent match.

But many people also ask how Casey's father, the man who raised her all these years, reacted to the result. Casey says that instead of ruining the relationship between the two, the story only made the relationship between father and daughter even stronger. He immediately said: “Nothing changes for me, Casey.” And Casey also says her father has been “such a big support to me throughout my life” and that won’t change.

Even though the truth about her identity has turned Casey's life upside down, she says today, “I thought the confirmation would finish me off, but honestly the uncertainty killed me.”
