A man from Brandenburg goes to the Swiss Alps for a wingsuit jump. Shortly after take-off he crashes and has a fatal accident. Just a day earlier, a similar incident occurred.
A German wingsuit pilot has had a fatal accident in the Alps in Switzerland. As a police spokesman explained, the 47-year-old came from Kremmen in Brandenburg. According to police reports, the man took off with another 37-year-old German shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday in the Vättis area above Bad Ragaz at an altitude of around 2,080 meters. Police in the canton of St. Gallen reported that he was the first to jump and crashed shortly after takeoff. The air rescue team was only able to rescue the man dead. The public prosecutor's office is now investigating why he crashed.
Wingsuits are bat-like suits in which fabric between the torso, arms and legs serves as wings. Flying with it is a dangerous extreme sport. In Switzerland, a 29-year-old man crashed and died while trying to fly a wingsuit on Thursday.
