The German Weather Service is currently warning of strong thunderstorms in the Main-Kinzig district. The Vogelsberg is also affected by the bad weather front.
Main-Kinzig district – The thunderstorm front is on Sunday morning (May 31st) from the west Hesse pulled in. The German Weather Service (DWD) is currently issuing a warning of strong thunderstorms (level 2 of 4) for the entire region Main-Kinzig district as well as the southern one Vogelsberg out of. The circle Fulda is currently not affected. The warning is currently in effect until 10:15 a.m.
Weather service warns of strong thunderstorms in East Hesse
According to the DWD, lightning strikes are possible – there is a danger to life outdoors – and danger from possibly falling trees or flying objects. In heavy rain, aquaplaning or flooding are also possible. Hailstorms are also possible.
The weather experts recommend avoiding bodies of water in particular and generally staying outdoors during a thunderstorm. Caution should be exercised, especially under trees or scaffolding. Loose objects should be secured and driving behavior in traffic should be adapted to the weather conditions.
