Hesse's new central registry court is to be located in Fulda. According to information from our newspaper, the decision will be announced in the middle of the week.
Fulda – The decision seems to have been made: According to information from our newspaper The new Hessian central registry court will be located in Fulda in the future. There is no official confirmation of this yet. However, the decision is expected to be announced in the middle of the week.
The Hessian Ministry of Justice did not want to confirm our newspaper's request. But don't deny it either. All that is said from Wiesbaden is that they are not taking part in speculation about the future location.
Location clearly clarified: Hesse registry court is coming to Fulda
According to further information from our newspaper, Justice Minister Christian Heinz (CDU) is scheduled to come to Fulda in the middle of next week to inform about the news. This also suggests that the location issue has now been decided internally in favor of Fulda.
With the decision, Fulda would prevail against other interested parties in a nationwide selection process. Last year, Bad Hersfeld campaigned particularly aggressively for the location of the new central court. Local and state politicians there had publicly promoted the location and repeatedly put the issue on the political agenda. In Fulda, on the other hand, politics and administration acted much more cautiously.
What is certain, however, is that the state of Hesse is planning to bring together the registration courts, which have so far been spread across several locations, in one place from 2028. The state government expects this to create more efficient structures and make the judiciary more attractive as an employer. The background to this is, among other things, that the majority of applications for corresponding positions come from central, northern and eastern Hesse.
Upgrading of Fulda as a judicial location
For Fulda, the settlement would be a significant upgrade of the justice location. The local registry court already enjoys an excellent reputation among experts. The Künzell notary Dr. Stephan Wübbelsmann last spoke to our newspaper last year about “fantastic conditions”. Entries in the commercial register in Fulda are sometimes possible within 24 hours – significantly faster than in many other courts.
These short processing times in particular could have been an important argument for the Fulda location. In other federal states, the centralization of registration courts has sometimes led to considerable delays, practitioners recently warned.
With the establishment of the central court, numerous additional jobs in the legal sector will come to Fulda. At the same time, representatives from the region also pointed out that this could intensify competition for qualified personnel – especially for law firms and notaries, which have to compete with the salary structures of the public sector.
