
500 free tickets will be given out for the opening ceremony of Hessentag 2026 in Fulda. What interested parties need to know.
Fulda – Around 500 free tickets are available for the official one Hesse day-Opening ceremony in the castle courtyard – but they are limited and will only be given out in a limited number per person.
From Monday, June 1st, citizens can secure a maximum of two tickets each at the Fulda Tourist Information Center at Bonifatiusplatz 1. As the city council of Fulda reports, the distribution point is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays until 3 p.m.
Opening ceremony in the castle courtyard: Fulda relies on show and acrobatics
The ceremonial opening of the ten-day Hesse Day 2026 in Fulda will take place on Friday, June 12th, in the Weindorf in Fulda City Palace. The well-known one-hour, multi-faceted opening program leads through Moderator Valerie Niehaus, who had already hosted the opening ceremony for the 2023 State Garden Show. According to the city of Fulda, guests can expect an impressive production with numerous local actors, musical highlights and spectacular shows.
The “Mambo Kings”, the “Mayor’s Band & Friends” and the St. Bonifatius children’s and youth choir provide musical entertainment and a real Hessentag atmosphere on two stages. A special highlight is the performance of the award-winning acrobatic group “Funtastics”, which is intended to inspire with a breathtaking performance full of dynamics, precision and artistic excellence.
Hesse's Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) gives the official starting signal for Hessentag 2026. We will also be welcomed by Mayor Dr. Heiko Wingenfeld (CDU) as well the Hessentag couple Vera and Max Dudykawho will celebrate the start of the state festival together with the guests.
Admission to the castle courtyard begins at 12 p.m. A preliminary program will run from 12.30 p.m., including: Ultra runner Sascha Gramm. The official opening ceremony starts at 1 p.m.
The event takes place as an open-air event. There is free choice of seats; according to the city of Fulda, there is no entitlement to a seat. Entry is via the Ehrenhof on Bonifatiusplatz.
